Sky Case, Locked out at the Bridge

We have been a bit slow with the posts this month so after a four day lockout with Sky Case I was spent out and I ask Ryan “Hey Ryan, you wana write your own post for the bridge blog?” and that goodness he took me up on the offer.
First off he is a video they made at the studio:
Secondly here is what Ryan had to say:
”
So, we’re finally recording for our project known as “Sky Case” – a collaborative effort we’ve been whittling away at for the past few years from our Boston start, as freshman at Berklee. Between all the pressure-filled takes, beer, pizza, weird-ass instruments (indie albums always have one), Derek’s couch crashing, charts that read “repeat forever”, Webb’s opus formed completely out of measuring tape, Zack’s insistence on pretty much rocking the F*** out (shirtless, as it would be), Ryan’s intense, minute-by-minute control room decisions, and Matt’s friggen playing on the “Juno” instrument one too many times came the building of an album we had always hoped to make. The diversity of the songs on this album meant using recording techniques that often had to be changed on the dime, many times from song to song. Owen and Janos at The Bridge were awesome engineers who pushed our recording, and great people to work with. The first session was three ten-hour days covering all of our basics, and we’re excited to return in the next few weeks. As perpetually late people, we were surprised to find ourselves almost one full day ahead of schedule which could never have happened without the hard work and help of the engineers. If things go like they did in these recordings, then working with these guys in the upcoming string sessions is going to rock.

Again, we want to thank Owen and Janos of the Bridge, and all of our contributors from Derek Demulling (bass, gear consultant, shaman), Zack Fierman (drums and percussion), Ryan Hinkle (producer/co-songwriter from Hink Creations) Matt McKinney (songwriter, vocals, piano, xylophone), Niki Michael (photographer from Hink Creations) to Webb Sandquist (guitar, mustache enthusiast and whistling) for a truly unique experience and an extraordinary group of people – we live for this.
