The Invisible EP by ESH & DOX on Vinyl now.

by on Nov.29, 2011, under News

This is the music we grew up on. Not classic rock but classic hip hop. Heavy on stories, raw samples of Eddy Murphy, and mentions of Benson! Sit back and listen, before your focused nod drifts away you’ll be ready flip to the B side.

Kurt’s Vinyls drop on DEC. 13th.

by on Nov.29, 2011, under News

Unlike other bands you may listen to, Kurt Von Stetten posts demos of all his songs on his blog. Sometimes these songs show up for me to mix and some times they just sit on the blog waiting to get revived. When you consider that Kurt has 6 records in as many years it is impressive to consider how many songs he still has on deck. His latest album Cyclops, drops on Dec 13th. Cyclops will be printed on CD, vinyl and is available as a digital download.  To get a sense of what goes on after the songs are demoed you can have a listen to the Codify demo in comparison to what you hear on Cyclops here.   Working with Kurt is great because transformations like this are scattered all over his albums. Sometimes we do a lot less. In Dec of 09, Kurt posted a “song for the carpet bombing remote drone pilot video game sequence” and then when it came out on Pyramid last year you can hear that we added just a touch of this and that.

So those recordings in the last post gave us some new ideas for tracking rock at The Bridge. The goal on this session was get a vintage drum tone with a big room feel. Of the 5 mics in this mix, 3 are ribbons. The pres are 512 and 610. The room is 2000′ sq. so that helps.
